Intent Automations give you the ability to set up automated alerts and exports for companies that are surging on PredictiveIntent Topics of your choosing.
You can set up email notifications to send a list of companies surging on your chosen intent topics, or export intent scores to existing and new companies for select CRM integrations.
Intent Automations will run weekly on Sundays so you'll have your fresh intent data ready for you to start the week!
Setup Before Building Your Automation
Before building your Intent Automation there are a few things you’ll want to set up ahead of time.
- Set your Intent Topics - Make sure you have selected and saved the PredictiveIntent topics that you want to track. Learn how to set up your topics.
- Create a Saved Search - We recommend you use a saved search to narrow your intent automation down to only the companies you care about. Create a saved search for your ideal customer profile, or any other group you wish to receive notifications for. If you want to track all surging companies on your topics, you can skip this step. Pre Setup for CRM Exports
If you’re planning to set your Intent Automation to export to your CRM, there are a few things you’ll need to do before you can build your automation.
- Make sure you have a SalesIntel CRM Admin set up for your CRM integration. If you don’t already, reach out to us at support@salesintel.io for help setting that up.
- Create custom fields on the Account or Company object in your CRM for each topic’s score and date. Your surge data will be mapped and written to these fields.
- We recommend naming your fields based on each topic. Example: If your intent topic is "Data Preparation" you would set up two fields:
- Data Preparation Intent Date
- Data Preparation Intent Score

Next click on the PredictiveIntent Automations menu item, and then select the New Automation tab.
- Automation Name - Enter the name of your Intent Automation. Each automation must have a unique name.
- Select Topics - Select which PredictiveIntent topics you want to include in your automation. Only topics that have been selected in “Your Topics” in PredictiveIntent will be available for selection. At least one topic must be selected.
-
Use a Saved Search (recommended) or Make Universal
- Use a Saved Search (recommended) - If you select this option you can select a Saved Search to narrow down the companies that will be included in the automation, so that you can focus on companies in your ideal customer profile. If your search is not set to "Team" availability, you will be prompted to update it when including in the automation.
- Make Universal - If you select this option your automation will run for all companies available in your account. This may result in reporting on companies that are not applicable to your business.
-
Set Score Threshold - Set the minimum and maximum score for the selected topics a company must have for your automation.
-
Export to CRM (optional) - Select a CRM to which you can export Intent Score and Intent Date. (See below for more details)
-
Create New Companies - Creates a new company if there is no existing matching company for the exported contact or company. Requires user to have company creation permissions.
-
Update Existing Companies - Updates firmographic and technographic information for any existing matching company. With this option toggled off, only the surge fields are written.
-
-
Email Notifications (optional) - Weekly email notifications with any companies surging based on your Intent Automation criteria will be sent to users of your choosing. Email notifications will include the top surging companies for your automation, and a link to see all surging companies in your account.
-
Note: Email notifications can be enabled by any Admin. It does not require a CRM Admin or Ops Admin, as no data is being sent to the CRM.
-
Export to CRM
Export to CRM is available for the following integrations:
- Dynamics
- HubSpot CRM
- Salesforce
- Zoho
The following criteria are required in order to set up an Export to CRM:
- There must be a CRM Admin set for the CRM. If you don't have one set up reach out to support@salesintel.io
- The CRM Admin must be connected to the integration.
- Only CRM Admins and Ops Admins can set up Export to CRM.
- At least one PredictiveIntent topic must be mapped for the integration (See Below in Intent Mappings)
Intent Mapping
In order to use Export to CRM you will first need to map each Intent Topic to your CRM. This can be done in the Company/Account Mapping section of the integration.
For every intent topic you wish to export to your CRM, set up a company/account field for Intent Score, and the Intent Date and map those to their Intent Topic.
Example: If you have your automation set up to export the intent topic “Data Preparation” you will need to have a company/account field in your CRM to export both the intent score, and the date. In this example you would want to set up two company/account fields such as:
- Data Preparation Intent Score
- Data Preparation Intent Date
Once these are created, the go to CRM Integration Settings > Company/Account Mapping > PredictiveIntent Mapping to map each topic. See the example below for Data Preparation
Note: Any Topics that are not mapped will NOT be exported when the automation runs.
Using Your Report
If you've enabled the email option, you and your teammates will receive an email after your automation runs, with a link to view surging companies in the SalesIntel application. When you click through this report, you will see SalesIntel search results, but you will be in "Report Mode", as shown by the orange banner at the top of the page. Click the link to leave report mode and go back to regular searches.
In this view, your search results are a list of the companies that fulfill your intent automation set as of this week, not a fresh search conducted in real time. If you have applied a saved search to your automation you should know:
- The filters on the left will NOT match those in your original search, even though the companies returned WILL meet that search criteria. The filter panel will show only the topic(s) in your automation and topic thresholds that you set up for the automation.
- Any persona (contact) filters in your saved search are not currently applied to these search results. This report only reflects the companies that were identified by your automation this week. You can further refine the contacts using the Buyer Persona filters on the left panel. When in Report Mode, those filters are applied to the companies and contacts returned by your report.
- Your intent automation report is limited by your intent plan. If your plan only shows 10 company results, you will only see up to 10 companies in your results. You can contact support@salesintel.io or your Account Manager to upgrade your plan and see more results in your searches and automations.
