What is GDPR?
Enacted in 2018, GDPR grants EU residents strong rights over their personal data. Organizations must obtain explicit opt-in consent to communicate with EU individuals and are responsible for securing that data. Non-compliance can lead to significant penalties.

CCPA – California Consumer Privacy Act
Who is protected?
The CCPA protects California residents (consumers). Businesses that collect, share, or sell personal data about California residents are subject to the law, regardless of where the business is located.
What rights do California residents have?
- Access the categories and specific personal data collected
- Delete personal data held by a business (with some exceptions)
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data
- Correct inaccurate personal information (added via CPRA)
- Non-discrimination for exercising their rights
